Ci si può soffermare per ore a guardare questo incantevole borgo che sembra portarci direttamente nel modo delle favole medievali. Civita di Bagnoregio, purtroppo non ha ancora molti anni ancora di vita. Soprannominata la città che muore, è stata fondata sulla cima di un colle circondata da calanchi che costantemente la pioggia e il vento erodono, provocando così continue frane che purtroppo stanno portando piano piano l’antico borgo alla sua scomparsa. Collegata con Bagnoregio nell’800, è ora separata da essa da una voragine enorme. Il collegamento ora avviene tramite un ponte. Attraversandolo, si ha l’impressione di stare dentro un film. Non per nulla è visitata da 700.000 persone all’anno, soprattutto dagli innamorati, che evidentemente vengono molto condizionati proprio da storie ambientate in paesaggi immaginari come questo. Civita di Bagnoregio è localizzato nella Tuscia. Fu patria di San Bonaventura, uno delle figure più importanti della chiesa nel medioevo. Fu lui che scrisse la biografia su San Francesco. Al centro della vecchia Civita, oltre a passeggiare lungo le sue strette viuzze e vedute mozzafiato dai lati del vecchio borgo possiamo ammirare il Duomo di San Donato con la sua bellissima facciata. Mentre nella nuova parte di Bagnoregio, sviluppatasi dopo l’emigrazione degli abitanti in seguito al terribile terremoto del 1695 dalla parte vecchia verso la contrada chiamata Rota (ora la parte nuova della città), possiamo visitare la Chiesa di San Bonaventura con all’interno conservata una sua reliquia: il Santo Braccio.

Connected with Bagnoregio in the 19th century, it is now separated from it by a huge chasm. The connection now takes place via a bridge. Crossing it, one gets the impression of being inside a movie. This is probably the reason for its huge number of visitors: 700,000 a year, especially by lovers, who are obviously very influenced by stories set in imaginary landscapes like this one. Civita di Bagnoregio is located in Tuscia. It was home to San Bonaventura, one of the most important figures of the church in the Middle Ages. It was he who wrote the biography of San Francesco. In the center of the old Civita, in addition to strolling along its narrow streets and breathtaking views from the sides of the old village, we can admire the Cathedral of San Donato with its beautiful facade. While in the new part of Bagnoregio, which developed after the emigration of the inhabitants following the terrible earthquake of 1695 from the old part towards the district called Rota (now the new part of the city), we can visit the Church of San Bonaventura with preserved inside one of his relics: the Holy Arm.
