Ogni anno a quattro Castella, una cittadina di circa 12000 abitanti, in provincia di Reggio Emilia, si tiene una rievocazione storica che ci ricorda la REINFEUDAZIONE di Matilde di Canossa da parte del figlio dell’Imperatore Enrico V, che accadde nel Maggio del 1111. L’Imperatore, nel 1081, emise un editto contro Matilde per alto tradimento confiscandole tutti i beni. Imponente la presenza di figuranti (un migliaio) durante la sfilata finale lungo le strade del paese. L’imperatore e Matilde sono generalmente rappresentati da figure note dello spettacolo. La rievocazione ha una durata di tre giorni. Si hanno sfilate ed esibizioni di sbandieratori, musicisti, giochi di abilità per cavalieri e lotte su un ponte di legno chiamato appunto “Gioco del Ponte” tra 2 squadre di 7 partecipanti. Diverse le contrade che vi partecipano, ognuno con un compito rappresentativo con Arceri, Villici, Cavalieri, Lottatori, etc. La rievocazione iniziò nel 1955. Ha avuto una pausa di 10 anni per poi riprendere nel 1984.
